Start from the original sale
Find the customer, invoice and items. Record return quantity and reason. For a carrier return, check the tracking reference before processing the dossier.
Inspect received goods
A carrier status alone does not prove an item is saleable again. Check its physical presence, condition, accessories and receiving warehouse, then record the restocking decision.
Handle the money separately
Check whether the customer paid and the amount still to refund. Locate the linked credit note or correction. An accepted return is not proof of a bank transfer or cash refund.
Close after reconciliation
Review available stock, customer balance and dossier documents. Retain the reason and refund evidence where applicable.
